Voting Home / Orcas Island
Nominated for: BEST Island
Take a look at a map of Orcas Island and you will see the shape of saddlebags or a horseshoe. Small wonder it's such a diversified island. Orcas has been called “the emerald island” for it is green much of the year with its moderate climate. The island is built around definitive villages and hamlets like Orcas Village (at the ferry landing), West Sound, Deer Harbor, Crow Valley, Eastsound, Olga and Doe Bay. Each little community is interesting and worth a visit. The island is still rare in having four post offices at Orcas, Deer Harbor, Eastsound and Olga.
